How Does Spinal Decompression Therapy Work?
The AcuTrac Spinal Decompression cycles through distraction, holding and relaxation cycles. These cycles allow a spinal disc to be placed under negative pressure, causing a vacuum effect within it, which promotes pain reduction and healing. The vacuum effect accomplishes two things. From a mechanical standpoint, disc material that has protruded or herniated outside the normal confines of the disc can be pulled back within the disc by the vacuum created within the disc. Also, the vacuum within the disc stimulates in growth of blood supply, secondarily stimulating a healing response. This results in pain reduction and proper healing at the injured site. By tractioning the vertebrae the space that the nerves come through are opened relieving pressure on the nerves, which relieve the resultant pain, irritation, inflammation and muscle spasms. The tractions also stretches the muscles and relaxes them.
How often do I get treatments?
Each treatment session will include 3D AcuTrac spinal decompression built into a treatment plan designed specifically for your needs in order to achieve the best results. Each Decompression session lasts approximately 15 minutes. Spinal decompression is performed 1-3 times a week depending on your needs. The frequency will diminish as you improve. Each person is evaluated by the doctor throughout the treatment process and may change the recommendations as you progress.
